Benjamin Kohnen, MD

Dr. Kohnen joins Washtenaw Medicine after service in the US Air Force where he achieved the rank of Major. Born in Cincinnati, OH, Dr. Kohnen graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, with a BS with honors in Psychology. He attended Boonshoft School of Medicine, at Wright State University, in Dayton, OH. Upon receiving his MD in 2008, he attended Officer's Training School, Maxwell AFB in AL, graduating as an Air Force Captain. He served as a Family Medicine Physician at Travis AFB, California; Holloman AFB, New Mexico; Ramstein AFB, Germany. While in the service Dr. Kohnen received several awards. Among them, Excellence in Anatomy, Health Professions Scholarship, Company Grade Officer of the Quarter, and Meritorious Service Medal. He has been a volunteer physician in Raleigh Fitkin Memorial Hospital, Manzini, Swaziland and Chea Chumnea Hospital, Phonom Pehn, Cambodia. Dr. Kohnen is married and has two children. His wife,Nicole, is also a physician.
