Stephen L. Hastings, MD

Dr Hastings was accepted to the University of Michigan's prestigious combined Undergraduate and Medical School program.  After three years of undergraduate study he began his medical school studies and was awarded his MD in 1968.  In 1970, after two years of residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI, he served in the US Army Medical Corp, 1970-1972.  He returned to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital to complete his residency in 1974.

In addition to being a physician in  group private practices, Dr. Hastings was a Clinical Instructor at the University of Michigan Medical School from 1977-1998 and a Resident Clinic Supervisor at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital from 1980-1992.  His interest in technology and medicine led him to chairing the Computer Advisory Committee at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, which advised hospital administration in design and implementation of Patient Care Information Systems.

In August 2003, Dr. Hastings retired for medical reasons relating to his paraplegia.  Washtenaw Medicine is excited that he has decided to return to private practice and to be part of Washtenaw Internal Medicine.
