Debra Longo was raised in the Ann Arbor area. She graduated with honors with a Bachelors of Science degree in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University in 1998. Debra then received her Masters of Social Work from the University of Michigan in 1990. For 18 years she provided medical social work services for the Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, working with a spectrum of client populations to provide individual, couple and family counseling as well as group facilitation. She also has presented at numerous local venues and professional conferences.
Debra believes in an interdisciplinary team approach to patient care. Her interests and area of expertise are concentrated in Primary Care and Geriatric Care, providing comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments, including evaluation of mood and cognition utilizing neuropsychological testing. She is experienced in working with people regarding a variety of issues including chronic illness, caregiver issues, anxiety, depression, life-style modifications, family problems and referrals to community resources.
In addition to her clinical practice at Washtenaw Geriatric Medicine, Debra currently works for The Wellness Community of Southeastern Michigan, facilitating groups for people with cancer and their families.
Debra enjoys spending time with her family and friends, volunteering in her daughter’s school, walking her dog, exercising, reading, and being outdoors.
